FEAP Indicators: A. QUALITY OF INSTRUCTION 4. Assessment. A.4.c. Uses a variety of assessment tools to monitor student progress, achievement and learning gains. I used a variety of assessment tools to monitor student progress, achievement and learning gains by using an assortment of formative as well as summative assessments. The formative assessments I used included, exit cards, having the students discuss what they learned with a partner, and having the students’ complete graphic organizers. Some of the summative assessments I used included having the students write essays, present Prezis/PowerPoint’s, creating dinner party skits, creating posters and presenting them to the class, creating online Wikis, and painting pictures of what they learned. All of these assessments helped to monitor student progress, achievement and learning gains because they were all accompanied with a rubric. They also all catered to the different geniuses and strengths of the individual students.
Overall, I am pleased with the outcome of my strategy application project. I now have ten strategies with assessments and rubrics that I can use in the classroom. This project really opened my eyes to unique ways I can help students with comprehension and reading. I never remember using these strategies when I was in school and I feel that if I had reading would have been a lot easier. I cannot wait for my future students to use these strategies and develop a love of reading.
