FEAP Indicators: A. QUALITY OF INSTRUCTION 2. The Learning Environment. A.2.e. Models clear, acceptable oral and written communication skills. I modeled clear, acceptable oral and written communication skills by explaining in depth what each strategy was, the reason why the strategy is effective, and provided an example of what the strategy would look. I also provided a rubric for each strategy so the students would know exactly what they would be graded on. Providing an example of what the strategy is supposed to look like helps those students who are visual learners.
A.2.f. Maintains a climate of openness, inquiry, fairness, and support. I maintained a climate of openness, inquiry, fairness, and support by allowing students to ask questions about the different strategies as needed. Mostly all of the strategies required student inquiry because they had open ended questions to answer. The questions were not yes or no questions. The questions required the students to explain why they feel the way they do. I maintained fairness and support by providing a rubric so that the students would know exactly what they were being graded on. I would support students who needed extra help getting though some of the harder informational text by working one on one with them to see where they are struggling them most, pairing them with another student, and providing them with additional strategies that could potentially help them.
A.2.g. Integrates current information and communication technologies. I integrated current information and communication technologies by adding technology integration into each strategy. Some of the communication technology I integrated included the internet, online interactive journals, Wikis, and the Smart Board. I also included quoted current information from the textbook that gave reasons why these strategies are beneficial to students.
