The areas in my self assessment that I scored high on where discovering self motivation and believing in myself. When I started at lane a few years ago I didn’t believe in myself and I didn’t feel confident with school. I was very withdrawn from my surroundings and didn’t have interest in learning or growing. I ended up leaving mid way through the term. It wasn’t until about a year later that I truly decided that I wanted something different for myself. I was working a dead end job in the fast food industry with one bad day after another. I decided that if I wanted more for my self than I needed to figure out what I wanted and how I could make that happen. Of course school was going to be my best option but this time I was inspired and excited to be at school. I had a passion to learn that I had not had in a long time and I was ready to utilize it.
As for believing in myself I feel like that is something that my mother instilled in me from a young age. She would always tell me I could do anything I set my mind to. I didn’t always believe in myself but over the years my belief that I could do anything grew stronger. In middle school when I went from a failing student to a straight A student, in high school when I got my first job to pay my way to France, and in college when I became a certified nursing assistant. Every time I accomplish something I really want and have worked so hard for or I feel like giving up but keep pushing through I develop an even stronger belief that I can do anything I set my mind to.
3. Write about the areas of the self-assessment in which you had your lowest scores. Explain why you think you scored lower in these areas than in others. Also, explore how you feel about these scores. Remember the saying, "If you keep doing what you've been doing, you'll keep getting what you're getting." With this thought in mind, write about specific changes you'd like to make in yourself. Write two paragraphs for your response to this prompt.
The areas in my self assessment that I scored lowest in are self awareness and interdependence. As sad as it is to say I agree with this. I tend to rely on myself when I have a problem or am struggling with a problem. Don’t get me wrong if I can’t figure out a problem I’m more than willing to ask for help I just try to figure it out on my own as much a possible. I’m not very social with my peers and I don’t strive to keep in contact with people from high school. I just get stuck in my own little world and at the end of the day I feel like the people who I need in my life are there. However it doesn’t mean I need to hold myself back from interacting with others for better life situations or school grades and knowledge. I need to learn how to let my guard down a little and let people help me more.
Self awareness is something that is a little more of an obstacle. I tend to get stuck in my own head and not realize what is going on around me. I’m focused when it comes to school and work but its just how I handle myself and how I manage my time that I tend to fall a little short. I get distracted very easily and sometimes I just can’t find my way back. I really need to learn how to see and listen to my surroundings and figure out the best way to participate actively in what is going on around me.
