World History - Classical writing prompt

After viewing the videos - Barbarians and Gladiator - for the downfall of the Roman Civilization, you will need to compose a one (1) page "in-class" essay about how two (2) of the following concepts were major factors that led to the downfall of the classical Roman society.

The contributing concepts included:


  • loyalty, strength, discipline, honor, greed, corruption, deception and scandal

as seen through the historical evidence, as listed below:

  • civil/foreign wars, economic/social decay, political/military failures and barbarian invasions (shown in class and through the videos)

Requirements:

Must be written in class; due at the end of the class period

One (1) page in length

Outline usage allowed; maximum of 40 words (not including introduction)

Four (4) paragraph essay (introduction, two (2) body paragraphs, conclusion)

Written as a POV essay with evidence, based off of any materials available to you from class

Choose two (2) of the concepts; develop a logical argument, with evidence used from class, to convince your reader that your chosen factors were significant reasons for the downfall of the Roman Civilization
