Mrs. Ferris was born December 27, 1927 in Bozeman, Mont., to Fred and Helen (Kelly) O’Dell. In her early childhood, her family moved from Bozeman to Butte, Mont. Mrs. Ferris graduated from Butte Girls Central Catholic High School in 1946. She then attended Columbus School of Nursing in Great Falls, Mont. She married Earl M. Ferris on October 30, 1948 in Helena, Mont. She accompanied her husband on new job assignments to San Bernardino, Calif., and to Kingston, N.Y. She moved to Boulder in 1965 from Saugerties NY, then to Niot in 1972 and finally to Longmont in 2002. Mrs. Ferris was a pediatric nurse at Boulder Medical Center in Boulder, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Buffalo Belles and Great Falls Butte Rats. She enjoyed her family; traveling, reading, especially English history; decorating, and making new friends. She will be remembered as an outstanding wife, mother, friend and pediatric nurse. Mrs. Ferris was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank O’Dell and James O’Dell; and a sister, Evelyn Colwell. She is survived by her husband of Longmont; two daughters, Kathy Bickel and her husband Shay of Longmon and Debbie Ferris of Longmont; two grandchildren, Tacey Bickel and Countney Bickel, both of Longmont; several nieces and nephews, included Rhonda Rowe of Butte MT. No services will be held. Cremation will take place at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to Butte Central Catholic High School or to Hospice Care of Boulder and Broomfield Counties and sent to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St, Longmont CO 80501.” Thanks to Joyce Reilly for this obit!

His next assignment was as an advisor the California National Guard in San Francisco and Los Angeles. In 1955, he was sent to Germany where he was stationed at Stuggartt and Hanau. In 1960, he returned to the States and was an advisor to the Nevada National Guard in Carson City NV. In 1961, he was again sent to Germany, being stationed at Gelnhausen, Hanau, and Nelligen. Charles was offered two field commissions but elected to stay with him men where he felt as a leader he could do more good. He retired from the U. S. Army after serving 23 years. [Jane E.
