The Road to Revolution Magazine Project
You and your partner will create one magazine section to review the causes of the American Revolution. One of you will write from an American Patriot point of view and one from a Loyalist. You should cover separate topics and then read your partners. You will use your notes and online resources to create a magazine, complete with advertisements. If you have a particular interest not included in these see me and we can determine what it will require.


  1. Begin with the Declaration of Independence and answer the 4 questions.

  2. Copy this document into your Google Drive and work on it from there, bring in your own device and save it to that/flash drive, or make a paper copy. You may also use one of the textbooks.

  3. Review the Rubric at the bottom of the document and choose different topics from your partner.

Going to WAR: Use the webpage handout chart comparing the strengths of the Continental Army and the British Army. How much weaker is the US? Why will Americans win this – think European countries and geography. +2 images

Educate Your readers: Make an illustrated timeline of 10 important events with a sentence describing its importance from a Patriot or Loyalist Point of View. Chose two and explain why they are crucial events in the British colonies becoming the United States of America.


Education for the Kids: Explain why “No Taxation without Representation” by using the following terms: taxes, Parliament, Colonial assembly, voting, monarchy, democracy, and the “power to tax is the power to destroy.” Provide simple examples and images to illustrate this for kids.


Create 1 magazine article for 50 Points (+10 for each additional page that is completed properly)

Each of these will make good test questions.
