The person I admire most is Benjamin Franklin. He is one of the greatest Americans. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1706. He lived a boyhood in Boston and moved to Philadelphia. He gave the world several valuable inventions such as the lightning rod, a metal pole on the top of a building to keep the building and the people inside it safe. He became a well-known writer and a successful printer. For example, He wrote and published a book called Poor Richard’s Almanack that is still widely repeated today. He also cared about his community and helped establish Pennsylvania’s first public library, first university, and first hospital. He worked as a foreign diplomat and helped write the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. He died at his home in Philadelphia on April 17, 1790 at the age of 84.
