One of them is

The Colossus of Rhodes

The Colossus of Rhodes was a gigantic statue in Rhodes and it was dedicated to the god Helios. It was erected on the island of Rhodes, Greece, in the 3rd Century. It is considered one of the “The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World“. In 305 A.D. Rhodes was invaded by an army led by Demetrius Poliorcetes, son of Antigone. The statue was 31-32 meters tall. However, the statue collapsed about 226 A.D. from an earthquake. Despite the disastrous fall, the statue remained known as “One of Seven Wonders of the World”. In 654 A.D., after the disaster of Colossus, Sarakinus ransacked Rhodes.

The Colossus of Rhodes wasn’t simply a beautiful piece of art. It was considered a unique piece of art.

November 2008:

Hatzis Hatzieftimiou instructed the German artist Gert Hof to reconstruct the statue in its former location. That statue will be from 60 to 100 meters tall.
