The Captains of Industries Stamp Project
Your company has been commissioned by a family to create a brochure to influence the selection of their ancestor as a candidate for an American postage stamp honoring American Industrialist of the 19th century. Your brochure will have:

  • A sample of the stamp that represents the honoree (a picture of the industrialist and symbols that represent his work. It will look like a stamp)

  • An essay that describes his achievements and contributions to American industry

  • List of sources used for research done in Turabian format.

  • Be prepared to defend your candidate from any detractors who considers them a “Robber Baron”.

Design (20): Consist of a picture, symbols, and formatted like postage stamp

Essay (50): In detail give the story of why the industrialist is a Captain of Industry or a Robber Baron. It needs to explain the symbols used on the stamp. It is not a report; it is a persuasive essay. Depending on the stance, the student needs to show both sides of the issue but persuade the reader with facts for your position.

Citations (10): Correct Turabian format

Oral presentation (20): Be thorough in your presentation. Both partners need to present.
