RESEARCHERS AT HENRY FORD HOSPITAL IN DETROIT SAY THE REASONS WHY PATIENTS RETURN TO THE HOSPITAL MAY BE MORE CLOSELY TIED TO THE LEVEL OF POVERTY IN A COMMUNITY, AND PATIENTS’ MARITIAL STATUS AND EDUCATION.

SOT (00:16): “The most important finding of this study is that patients living in high poverty neighborhoods are 24 percent more likely to be readmitted in the hospital within 30 days after discharge compared to all other patients.”
