LAP #3: What More Do I Need

GOAL: The student will be able to demonstrate knowledge of research and organization by preparing a speech to persuade. The student will gain knowledge to improve listening skills and display habits of audience etiquette and self-evaluation through practice and performance.

Overview/Rationale:

In this LAP, each student will learn the tools necessary to prepare a research-based speech. This LAP also focuses on the importance of honing one’s listening skills and the etiquette necessary to be an attentive and effective member of an audience.


Learning Goals:

  • The student will chose a subject for persuasive speech, narrow that subject and compose a focused thesis statement.

  • The student will recognize and demonstrate the steps to being a focused audience member.

  • The student will evaluate their own presentation, as well as one of their peers.

  • The student will identify and explain components of the listening process.
