CANADIAN OPERA COMPANY INCLUDES DAREARTS TEENS ON ‘RING’ STAGE
TORONTO, Ontario (September 18) - Canada’s premier opera company, the Canadian Opera Company, includes four DAREarts teens on the stage of Wagner’s RING CYCLE as it celebrates the opening of the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.
Four urban teenagers who are graduates of the DAREarts program are joining the Canadian Opera Company onstage at the phenomenal new centre as supernumeraries
in throughout the production the RING CYCLE. This is such a special opportunity for these to teens to be empowered by their artistic experiences, joining luminary opera stars onstage and being directed by such internationally renowned directors as Michael Levine, Atom Egoyan, Francois Girard and Tim Albery.
The four DAREarts graduates are: Irina Ciumac as the forest bird in ‘Gotterdammerung’ with Leah Chang as her understudy; Kylie Thomas as a rheinmaiden in Das Rheingold; and Woody Jarvis in Die Walküre.
COC supernumeraries co-ordinators Liz Walker and Analee Stein have commented about these youth to DAREarts Founder, Marilyn Field: "Whatever DAREarts is doing, they're doing right! These very talented youth are 100 % reliable, always eager to please and mature enough to interact positively with older people.”
