Prompt: Explain how the contributions of the Ancient Greek civilization still affect our modern world today.
Students will write a multi-paragraph, multi-page (3-4) research paper that addresses one of the major cultural influences during the Ancient Greek civilization. Prompts include students researching the cultural influences of philosophy, literature, science and mathematics, Sophocles, medicine, theatre, Greek religion, government and athletics (Students will choose one).

Students will need to define, explain and tell how the cultural influence affected the Ancient Greek civilization and its connections in today’s world.

Paper Format:

  1. Introductory paragraph

    2. Thesis

  2. Body Paragraphs (Multiple)

    1. MUST include convincing ideas with support, including relevant definitions, explanations, and causes and effects of the topic and related details

    2. EACH body paragraph must include 3 pieces of EVIDENCE (WHICH WILL NEED TO BE CITED) AND 3 pieces of COMMENTARY per paragraph.

    3. THIS IS THE MAIN CONTENT GRADE. FAILURE TO CITE SOURCES FOR IDEAS, STATISTICS, ETC. WILL LOWER THIS GRADE DRAMATICALLY. USE YOUR OWN WORDS!

    4. Example paragraphs include: dates of topic, location of topic, causes of topic, contributions of the topic, effects the topic had on the Ancient Greek Civilization, effects the topic still has on present day, miscellaneous items you feel important to topic or the Ancient Greek Civilization as a whole.

  3. Conclusion Paragraph
