Petrie and John Jay Foundation Student Emergency Funds
Through the generous support of the Carroll and Milton Petrie Foundation and John Jay College Foundation, Student Affairs is excited to announce the availability of Student Emergency Funds. Funding can be used for MetroCards, food vouchers, emergency housing assistance, medical care, and other emergency situations that would interfere with a student’s ability to remain and succeed at college.
Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to receive the grant, however all students must meet the following eligibility requirements:
As a full time student, one must:
Be enrolled as a graduate or undergraduate student;
Have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and/or demonstrate the aptitude for higher grades if his/her financial circumstances were altered. (This is determined by professor recommendations);
As a part time student, in addition to the requirements above, one must:
Complete 9 credits (or the equivalent of three courses) or core/required classes;
Supply evidence of internship, part-time or full-time employment.
Students in need of emergency funding should be referred to the Counseling Department. Counselors will meet with the student, assess the situation, and provide assistance and follow-up planning to help the student achieve self-sufficiency.
