New Kingdom Egypt from Amenhotep III to the death of Ramesses II



Due: Tuesday 14 June 2005 by 9.15AM. Please bring your completed task to the HSIE staffroom.
Length: 1500 to 2000 words. Include word count at end of assignment (preferably word-processed).
Weighting: 8%
Outcomes:
H5.2 Plans an historical investigation, analyses and synthesises historical information from a variety of sources and presents the findings of the investigation.

Task: Select ONE of the following six questions and answer it, based on your research of the topic. You should introduce the essay with your proposed argument and also close your essay with the conclusions that have resulted from your own research.

EITHER



ONE: Assess the extent to which Akhenaten may be likened to either a religious visionary or a reactionary opportunist.

OR



TWO: Assess the extent to which Ramesses II is entitled to be called ‘Ramesses the Great’.

OR



THREE: Assess the contributions and impact of any TWO Egyptian queens during this period.

OR



FOUR: Can the term ‘damnatio memoriae’ be applied to the reign of Horemheb? Assess and describe the reforms that were undertaken by Horemheb during his reign.

FIVE: Amenhotep III. Tow what extent did Egypt reach the ‘zenith of magnificence during the reign of Amenhotep III, The Dazzling Sun Disk?

SIX: Explain and assess the status, influence and significance of each of the following women associated with Amenhotep III.
