2001 Second wave of needs assessment conducted for the United Way.


1999- Project Director, United Ways of Wilkes-Barre and Hazleton

1998 Directed needs assessment for the United Way consisting of collecting data through telephone interviews and questionnaires distributed through employee payroll at various companies. Ran statistical analysis of data and produced report of results.


1997 Consultant, Wyoming Valley Health Care System

Advised representatives from the health care system regarding questionnaire development for a core values study. Analyzed data and produced report.


1996 Project Director, Wyoming Valley Health Care System

Directed a project for the Wyoming Valley Health Care System that designed a needs assessment questionnaire and ran focus groups regarding the creation of a women’s health center.


1996 Project Director, “Flood of ‘96 Survey”

Along with George Strand, poll concerning community response to flood emergency in Luzerne County. FEMA requested further analysis of poll data.

Constructed an evaluation instrument for the use by state police to assess the effectiveness of a sobriety checkpoint program. Maintained data base and analyzed resultant data.


1991- Project Director, Luzerne County DUI Task Force Survey.

1989 Constructed and administered a DUI survey to 800 high school students in Luzerne County. In addition, 500 college students from three different colleges also received a similar, self-administered survey. Finally, a DUI survey for worksites, using a PPS sample of 100 county businesses, was constructed.

1990 Fiscal Director for a $980 grant from the Pennsylvania Humanities Council to offer a public panel discussion for the Wilkes University Women's Studies Program.
1989 Project Director for a $19,997 Governor's Task Force on Drug Abuse, Harrisburg, PA, offering drug and alcohol awareness training for school teachers K-12.
1988 Project Director for a $54,000 U. S. Department of Education Drug-Free Schools and Communities Grant offering drug and alcohol awareness training for law enforcement officials and parents.
1987- Project Director for a $63,000 U. S. Department of Education Drug-Free Schools 1988 and Communities Grant offering drug and alcohol awareness training for school teachers, K-12.
1987- Chair, Subcommittee on Youthful Offenders of the Luzerne County Driving 1989 Under the Influence (DUI) Task Force. Helped in writing a $220,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Acted as project director for construction and administration of DUI survey and analysis of survey data.

Full responsibility for preparing and teaching a variety of courses including: Introduction to Sociology, Medical Sociology, Methods of Social Research, Social Theory, and statistics at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, Sociology of Mental Disorders, Sociology of Work, Drugs and Alcohol in American Society, Deviance and Social Control, Qualitative Sociology, and Introduction to Anthropology. In addition taught several multidisciplinary courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
