Good Guys Bad Guys Research Task
Students to research their chosen figure
Students can choose any historical figure as long as they were alive between 450 – 1970 CE

o Be conscious of including significant people from the LOTE subjects of French and Chinese in the range of choices for students.

Students will initially categorise their figure as a ‘Good Guy’ or a ‘Bad Guy’

o But what are ‘good guys’ and ‘bad guys’????

Brainstorm the characteristics …..
You will then pursue the following lines of inquiry:

Good Guys

o Contribution to Society

o Regarded then and now

o Private and public sphere

o Why are they ‘good guys’?

Bad Guys

o Negative impact on society

o Regarded then and now

o Private and public sphere

o Why are they ‘good guys’?
Historiography:

How has your historical figure been recorded in history?

o Has the historical record changed?

If so, when, by who and why (ie: new evidence? Different era of historical writing influencing the perceptions of the historian)?

Drawing historical conclusions:

At the completion of their research, students will re-evaluate their initial categorisation: is their figure still a good guy or a bad guy? Why?

Students must submit progress reports to demonstrate their learning and show that their research is progressing throughout this research period.
Students to give an oral presentation on their chosen figure

Extra marks will be given for the presentation and the dressing up they will do.
