Peter HAM White Male between 16 and under 26 [Peter]

White female between 16 and under 26 [Elizabeth]

Two (2) White females under 10 years of age

_________________________________________________________________

"He (Peter) and his family were all members of the Baptist church. He was a man rather large in stature, weighing more than two hundred pounds"
"James Ham [Peter's son...was born in 1820] was a lad of ten years [1830] when his parents settled in Daviess county, where he grew to maturity in Reeve township, and where he purchased a farm."
....source......... "History of Daviess County, Indiana" by A. O. Fulkerson (1915), Page 651.
[Editor note: If Peter came to Daviess County in 1830, I hardly would expect his 16 year old daughter, Julian, to be already in the county for her 8 Aug 1827 marriage to Solomon Webber....Perhaps Peter came into Daviess County around 1826-27...I need to check the land transfer records to see when Peter settled in Daviess]

________________________________________________________________

[Editor Note: I am certain that Julian, John and James are the children of Peter and Elizabeth Ham. As I looked at the other three HAMS in the marriages before 1850 in Daviess Co., IN., I noticed that both John and James married WILLIAMS girls. There are two other males with the HAM surname listed...Jacob and William WHO BOTH MARRIED WILLIAMS girls also. Julian HAM, a female, was married to Solomon Webber, of Barr Twp., Daviess Co. The only other HAM listed in the marriage record in this time frame was a female named MARIAH who married John LYON. I concluded that all these HAMS were in one family, because no other HAM was listed in the 1850 census as old enough to have these children get married back in the 1820's to 1840's. Peter was living with his son, John, in 1850. Elizabeth was not listed in the 1850 census and is presumed dead before that year.
Further inspection of the census of 1850 has John (and Peter in the same dwelling) in Dwelling # 1662 Reeve Twp., and William in Dwelling # 1663.
In the census of 1860, John was in Dwelling # 654, James in # 655, and Jacob, age 24 (and wife MARY ELLEN, Age 21 and sons Peter, Age 2, and James, Age 4/12 ) in # 656, Reeve Twp....I do not know who are the parents of this Jacob, b. Abt. 1836, but he surely must be kin to our basic HAM family. There is a Jacob HAM marrying a MARY ANN Clements in Daviess County on 10 Nov 1857, Book 1, Page 582. He is NOT the Jacob b. Abt 1840 , son of John, as this Jacob is listed in John's household in the 1860 census as age 20.
I need to check the census of 1830 and 1840 for Peter HAM in Daviess County...and 1820, and 30 in Bourbon Co., KY to check the number, age and gender of the children of Peter and Elizabeth.]

After his second marriage, to Rebecca Marley, a widow, on 20 Feb. 1866 in Martin County IN., he and his unmarried son, George Washington Webber, lived with her in Center Township, Martin County, IN. until his death in 1876. Solomon earned his living by farming, but was considered a 'minister of the Gospel', preaching and performing the duties of a minister throughout the county. He united in marriage several of his children. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church......source....."The Conalty Family Record" by Charles R. Conalty-Webber, Indianapolis, IN. (1988), in the posession of Terry Conolty, 405 NE 20th St.,Washington, IN. 47501. [Much all of this is based on "The Dutch Webbers of Indiana and Illinois" By E. Virginia Hunt].

From The "Dutch Webbers of Indiana and Illinois...." by E. Virginia Hunt. Plymouth, MA., (!980), p 19-20:
"Two 40 - acre parcels of land were purchased by Solomon Webber from the U. S. government in 1836 and 1837, located in Township 2 North, Range 6 West, Section 2, NE & SE parts of NE 1/4. In July 1853, he bought an adjacent 40 acres located in the NW part of NE 1/4 of Section 2, Township 2 North, Range 6 West. This last purchase, made in the Vincennes Land District (Certificate #7534) was known as 'Canal Land.'

This 120 acre piece of property was sold by Solomon in February 1866 after his first wife, Julian, died, and the exact month of his marriage to his second wife, Rebecca Marley. He sold it for $1500.00 to two of his nephews: John J. and Thomas McCracken, sons of Sarah Jane (Webber) McCracken.

Solomon's life centered around his church--Mount Olive Baptist Church, located in Section 31 of Barr Township, now in the town of Montgomery....At the age of 44, Solomon was licensed to preach by the Mount Olive Baptist Church. Less than a year later, the church voted to ordain 'Brother Weber' and invited several other churches to send representatives to the ordination council: Spice Vally Church, Wabash Church and Beaver Creek Church. On January 11, 1845 the Ordination Council was held and Solomon Webber was ordained to the Gospel Ministry. He accepted an invitation to preach at the Good Hope church one Sunday a month as well as preaching at his own church many times. Solomon Webber earned his living from farming, but was considered a 'Minister of the Gospel', preaching and performing the duties of a minister throughout the county. He performed the marriage ceremony of several of his children."
