Research focuses on the study of the role of sociocultural and cognitive factors in the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of mental disorders in ethnic/racial populations, with a particular focus on rural populations.Research Interests 1. Understanding cultural, social, and structural influences on detection, treatment engagement, and outcomes for chronic health conditions and depression of minority populations in health care, schools, and rural settings 2. Development and examination of the effectiveness of psychological interventions to improve detection, treatment engagement and outcomes for depression in minority populations in schools and in rural settings.
