CUSTOMER:

Crop Availability: I agree to accept the effects of weather conditions, and other agricultural production challenges, on the variety and quantity of specific crops at different times in the season. I understand that this means I may not have what I want, or as much of it as I want, at certain times of the year. I will not blame ARGOS FARM should such a situation occur. Natural disasters, like Hurricanes, may also wipe out a whole season, in which case I willingly accept to wait until the next harvest starts after recovery.

Pick up Times at the farm: Pick up of CSA customer orders at the farm will be restricted to the designated day and hours for the entire season. If weather conditions like heavy storms, or other unforeseen emergencies prevent, or delay pick up, I will be notified by ARGOS FARM via text, email, and/or face book. I understand that, should bad weather prevail, it is my responsibility to confirm my ability to pick up my order at the farm before driving out.

Refunds: I accept that there is a NO REFUND POLICY.

Communication: I agree to provide ARGOS FARM with an email and phone number that I frequently check and agree that communication will be via text, email, or the farm’s Face book page.

QUESTIONS ABOUT CSA

What will I get? CSA members will receive baskets of fresh produce each week throughout the growing season from ARGOS FARM. The following are examples of what members may expect to find in their baskets (depending on what is in season at the time): Beans, Beats, Broccoli, Cucumber, Garlic, Kale, Leeks, Lettuce, Melon, Peas, Peppers, Radish, Spinach, Squash, Swiss Chard, Tomatoes, Zucchini, and Herbs.

Will I get the same items every week? No, you will not get the same items every week. Items will vary from week to week and month to month. We pick all of our vegetables at the peak of their season to ensure maximum ripeness and nutrient content. Weather patterns may also affect the development of certain crops altering the size of the vegetables.

When is the CSA growing season? The CSA growing seasons begins in mid May and ends end of September. It is a 20 week period. Start date depends on weather conditions.

What is a full share? A full share is one basket of in-season, fresh-picked, assorted local produce. It has approximately 7-9 varieties of vegetables and herbs. Pounds fluctuate throughout the seasons. It is enough for 3 - 4 people.

What is a half share? A half share is one basket of in-season, fresh picked, assorted local produce. It has approximately 5-6 varieties of vegetables. Pounds fluctuate throughout the seasons. It is enough for 1 - 2 people.

Do you offer anything else besides vegetables? We do offer farm fresh Eggs, Goat Milk Soap, Clover Honey, Fresh picked Flowers, Extra Virgin Greek Olive Oil, Greek Oregano, and Blueberries for an additional price. Depending on the season and the demand, they are a first come and first serve basis.

What are your growing practices? We start with GMO-free, organic seeds, and use no synthetic fertilizers or herbicides. Our highest value is sustainability which we achieve through careful consideration of resources and reusing materials. We may use IPM Integrated Pest Management as our last resort to save our crop.

May I swap items in my basket with items being sold at the farm market? No, you may not trade any items in your basket with produce that is for sale at our farm market. You are more than welcome to purchase extra vegetables if you wish.

When and where can I pick up my weekly share? Members can pick up their shares at Argos Farm, 1250 Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ- One mile west off of GSP Exit 74 on Wednesday or Friday from 3:00PM - 6:00PM. Once you have chosen a day that is YOUR DAY for the 20 week period.

When and how do I pay for my CSA membership? To become a CSA member, complete the CSA Application. You may e-mail, mail, or bring completed application to Argos Farm. A check for full payment can be made payable to SEAD Farming, LLC and mailed to: ARGOS FARM, ATTN: CSA Membership, 1250 Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ 08731

Can I come to the farm and pick the vegetables by myself? There will be days of PYO (Pick Your Own). You will be notified in advanced so you can dress appropriately to be in the garden.

Can I split a share with my friend? This is your share you can split it any way you choose. We ask that you do it on your own terms, not on the farm.
Can I split a payment with a friend? We recommend one payment from one share holder. You and your friend can square away the finances amongst yourselves.
I have to pick up my box myself?
No, you can have someone else to pick up your share. Just be sure to have them check your name off the list when they pick up your basket, and notify Argos Farm the night before.

What happens if I am unable to pick up my share? You are responsible for picking up your share each week. If you are unable to pick up your share, you may ask a friend to pick it up for you. They must sign in when receiving your basket. IF you are away on vacation we can arrange for a different day of pick up that week. We must be notified within two weeks to arrange proper pick up day. Any weekly share not picked up will be forfeited and you may not get a refund or store credit. Your share will then be donated.

Can I visit the farm?
ABSOLUTELY! It’s incredibly important to us that you see exactly where your food comes from, and a big part of that is knowing exactly how our crops are raised. Members are welcome to visit the farm and ask any questions. We ask, however, that you do not just come and wander around the farm going into the fields without permission.  Fields that are open to visitors will be labeled as such.
Can I cancel my share?
No.  Your CSA membership is valid for the entire 20 week period…and that time period cannot be altered.  If you cannot pick up your basket of produce or for some reason need to relinquish your produce, you can either gift your produce to a friend or let us know that you would like your produce donated.
Can I upgrade my share?

No. Once you have decided on your share, that is what you get for 20 weeks. You may purchase extra vegetables at the market.

What happens if there is a crop failure?
We plant several successions of a variety of crops. It is rare that we will have a complete crop failure. If we were to have a complete crop failure, it could be for a relatively short time until the next crop rotation matures. Thus any crop failure will have a limited impact on our CSA. This is the advantage of growing multiple successions of a variety of crops. Nevertheless, joining a CSA connects the consumer to the farmer and to all the risks and bounty inherent in farming.

Are there any reminders sent out about picking up my share? Yes, we will send out reminders on our closed CSA FB Forum the morning of your share pick-up date.
