People Taking Action
Our own Sarah Clark was recently in the news and honored by TV station WTKR in the category of People Taking Action in their community. For 24yrs. she has been involved in the Little Creek Baseball/Softball League. She has served as the President for 16yrs. in a volunteer capacity. When asked by the report why she volunteered Sarah responded “because the kids are our future”. Her reward is the smiles and hugs she receives from the children. Sarah received a pin and certificate from the TV station for her efforts. Hats off to Sarah for her community involvement.
Several of you have inquired via emails how to become CCM certified.

Hampton Roads Case Management Society’s Chapter President Report
By Gail Brown, RN, BSN, CCM
The holidays are long over and I trust each and every one had a fruitful time. In the past year we have acquired 15 new members. Be sure to meet and greet them at our next function. As we start 2013 there are many opportunities for you to become actively involved. Join a committee, consider running for a board position, share your ideas with the board, and provide a presentation to your peers. Opportunities are also available to promote our chapter in the community.
We as a chapter need persons who will commit their time and energy to help run the chapter. Our board faces many challenges and works hard to overcome them. We overcome these challenges and are stronger for the experience.
In April we will hold our first official membership drive. There will be opportunities to network with your peers, prizes and awards. So invite someone or everyone you know to join a great organization. As Case Managers each of us plays an essential role in healthcare and for those we serve. We each can make a difference one person at a time. We serve our clients with compassion and dignity to achieve quality care and service.
We look forward to you sharing your expertise with us. Here is your chance to become more involved and to make a positive impact.
2013 is going to be an exciting year for the HRCMS.
