Directions: Please read chapter one entitled “Their Manners are Decorous and Praiseworthy” in the book Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee by Dee Brown, as well as a second chapter that has been assigned to you in the table below. Write a two-page typewritten essay summarizing the chapters that you have read.
Even though this essay is a book summary, it is still essential that it contain an introduction that contains a thesis. After reading your assigned chapters, develop an argument or a perspective on the narrative on which you would like to persuade your reader. Make that view your thesis and use evidence from the book as well as outside information to elaborate and defend your thesis. It is important that you incorporate your own ideas into the essay, but you must do so without resorting to first person narrative.
