Only available to students who are fully means tested. Not available to students who are eligible for NHS bursary support.



Extensions to stay

When student paid 







NB: for non exchange placements, Scotland only awards full fees for full exchanges/part year non exchange/part year paid placement. Half fees are awarded for full year study non exchange and full year paid placements.

Maintenance loan (65% non means tested and 35% subject to house hold income) and/or grant

Travel to country.
England/Wales/Northern Ireland: mobility period must be >50% of the term/semester
Scotland: study periods only, must be compulsory part of programme and for minimum of 8 weeks

Travel in country: England/Wales/Northern Ireland only.

Insurance
England/Wales: Medical insurance only
Scotland: study periods only, must be compulsory part of programme and for minimum of eight weeks

Visa

UK costs eg, language tests, travel to consulate, vaccinations

Long courses loan.
Entitlement is determined by the number of weeks/partial weeks that the period of mobility extends beyond 30 weeks and 3 days, and up to 45 weeks. 52 weeks' allowance is paid for mobility periods of 45 weeks or more.
Paid to student automatically in final instalment of year

Excludes fees as they are paid direct to the HEI
