1 – 4 pm Belle Grove Plantation Mansion open for tours (Last tour starts at 3 pm)



Explore the 1791 Mansion and Grounds where President James Madison was born. Union Headquarters during the Civil War. Union detachment pursuing Booth & Herold stopped to sleep here. $15 / adult - $5 / children 12 years & under. No discount tickets for this event. Tickets may be purchased at the door or on www.BelleGrovePlantation.com in online store or calendar. Stairs involved, not handicap accessible.

INVITATION ONLY - Registration and Reception, NPS Historian speaks, and VIP Tour of the Virginia Civil War 150th HistoryMobile. For purchasers of Caroline County 3 Day Event tickets and invitees only.

5 pm Belle Grove Plantation Civil War Encampment Set up



Civil War Reenactors arrive to set up camp for their two night encampment. Grounds and mansion not open to the public at this time.

7:30a-5:30pm Caroline County Visitor Center Guided Bus Tour



Follow the path of Lincoln’s assassin and his co-conspirator as they entered Virginia in King George County and made their way to Caroline County where they were captured. Stop where they stopped, see where their pursuers stayed at Belle Grove Plantation, tour the towns of Port Royal and Bowling Green, and see the Garrett Farm site, where Booth met his end. 9 am – 4 pm Belle Grove Plantation Grounds & Encampment open to the public



No Cost for grounds and encampment – Mansion Tour Ticket may be purchase in advance. Mansion tours are 12pm to 4pm. (Last tour starts at 3 pm) Mansion is not open to the public outside these times. Please do not enter the mansion, outbuildings or yellow caretakers home.

PUBLIC TOURS – FREE ADMISSION. The Civil War 150 HistoryMobile is an interactive "museum on wheels" housed in a 53’ expandable tractor-trailer. The HistoryMobile draws together stories from all over Virginia and uses state-of-the-art technology and immersive exhibit spaces to present individual stories of the Civil War from the perspectives of those who experienced it—young and old, enslaved and free, soldiers and civilians. Tour with reenactors- begin on the steps of the Peyton-Brockenbrough House (where John Wilkes Booth sought shelter, but was turned away and directed to the Garrett House), St. Peter’s Church, Riverview (with home tour), and Townfield (with home tour). Acts at each stop. Must have a paid ticket to enter the homes. Cost - $20 to benefit the Port Royal War Memorial. Tickets will be sold on site at each of the tour stops & at the Veteran’s Memorial Information Table. (Additional tours at 1:30 pm and 3 pm)

11 am Port Royal St. Peters Tour



St. Peters will be open with a tour guide present. Cost – This event is free. Donations are not required, but very much appreciated. . (Additional tours at 1:30 pm and 3 pm)

Dinner with Dr. Terry Alford, history professor, author nationally recognized Lincoln assassination scholar. Appeared on PBS documentary The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln, consulted on the Steven Spielberg film Lincoln, author of Prince Among Slaves. He will debut and sign his new book Fortune’s Fool: The Life of John Wilkes Booth. Advance purchase tickets required. $25 each. Books available for purchase at the event. 10 am Belle Grove Plantation Church Services at Emmanuel Episcopal Church



Carolinus Turner, Belle Grove Plantation owner from 1839 to 1894, donated part of that land to build a church. Built and opened in 1860, Emmanuel was damaged in the Civil War. Restored after the war, Emmanuel still holds services the third and fifth Sunday of every month. The land and church are part of the Hanover-Brunswick Parrish. View the family cemetery where many former residences of Belle Grove Plantation now rest. Seating is limited. This event is free. Donations are not required, but very much appreciated.
